RETURN TO PLAY
Please read and review our Return to Play Protocol.
The "Health Declaration" is required to be completed online each day before attending any program.
If the athlete is under the age of 16, this should be completed by the Parent/Guardian.
The "WCVC Indemnity & Assumption of Risk" is required to be completed prior to any further participation in WCVC events.
With the start of the 2021 season just around the corner we are excited to announce that West Coast Volleyball Club is set and ready to get things rolling. This season is going to look very different than anything we have done in the past but we believe that the program we are putting together is going to be the safest, most developmental and competitive season we can run during these times. As we move forward to welcoming back our athletes, please know that the health and safety of our athletes, coaches, volunteers, parents and staff are our number one priority. With this in mind, we have implemented safety measures, precautions and infection control procedures to try and create the healthiest and safest environment for West Coast Volleyball Club’s return to play. We ask for your patience as we navigate this ‘new normal’ and for your compliance with the protocols that must be put in place to ensure all of our safety.
Although we will be making many changes - all in accordance with the guidelines and regulations of our government bodies and Volleyball BC - to try and keep all participants and members healthy and safe, it is not possible to reduce the risk of infection from COVID-19 to zero. Volleyball BC has completed a detailed risk assessment and determined that volleyball is a “medium risk” sport when it comes to the possibility of infection. This is mostly due to the fact that even with physical distancing measures, reduced training group sizes, and enhanced cleaning, players will still be touching the same ball, which increases the risk of infection. For this reason, it is required that prior to attending any West Coast Volleyball Club Program, parents and/or legal guardians of the participating athletes must review our COVID-19 Return to Play Protocol to help better understand the risks involved and risk-mitigation measures that are being used. Parents and/or legal guardians must ensure that their athlete(s) is/are aware of the policies and procedures as outlined in the Return to Play Protocol and agree to adhere to the rules that will be put in place. Before participating in any program, and after returning the Return to Play Protocol, each athlete and their parent/guardian must complete the WCVC Indemnity and Assumption of Risk waiver form; this must be completed at least 48 hours before attending any of our programs.
Athletes will also be asked to conduct a daily self-assessment for any COVID-19 symptoms. Athletes must then complete the online Health Declaration form for each day that they are participating in a WCVC program. Please see Appendixes A & B of the Return to Play Protocol for more information on how to complete both the waiver form and the health declaration form.
We recognize that each family is unique and has been impacted in different ways by the pandemic. Acknowledging this, we ask that every family consider their personal situation and associated risk tolerance before registering for a program.
Again, the health and safety of all of our athletes, coaches, volunteers and staff is our top priority and we are committed to providing the safest and healthiest volleyball experience we can for our athlete(s). At any time, if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to our Club Director, Wayne Loewen at firstname.lastname@example.org .
